"Happiness is squeezing the throttle hitting the road and finding the ultimate food destination"

Is the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 still relevant in 2022?

The Royal Enfield Interceptor could be the best RETRO bike on the market

The Royal Enfield 650 twins have grown in popularity since their initial release here in Australia.

After owning a Continental GT 650 for about a year and selling due to having 2 bikes, I truly missed having that beautiful bike as an option to ride.

So when Royal Enfield Australia reached out and offered me a press bike for a few weeks I jumped at the chance.

For my video review on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 watch the video below, of read on.

Royal Enfield Interceptor

The 650 Interceptor is still a modern classic of the highest standard.

My thoughts have not changed on the Royal Enfield 650's, there is simply no better bike on the market for the price, if you are someone that loves the retro styling and the ability to customise this to anything you like.

Personally I could see the RE Interceptor with knobbly tyres, a bash plate and a nice sounding ehaust and she'd be a rippa.

My Thoughts:

Comfort and Riding Position

The Interceptor is a very neutral bike to ride. Body position is upright which is extremely suitable for the urban environment, city riding and commuting.

At higher speeds however, as you would expect, there is a lot of wind hitting on the chest.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor is super agile and comfortable.

Performance

The Interceptor is quicker then it seems on paper. Acceleration is impressive for the Enfield and will travel at Freeway Speeds with ease.

Brakes are more than adequate for the bikes needs.

The 650 twin engine is most definitely over engineered and many builders are already installing 865 kits and above with great success.

Price and Value

There is not much on the market today that can rival the value of the Royal Enfield Interceptor.

Retailing from between $10k-12k depending on model, the Interceptor is almost in a league of it's own.
