Only a handful of years ago, if you told me that I'd be riding an electric Scooter.....AND.......enjoying it, I would have told you that you were crazy. Fast forward to today and I have to admit I am an absolute convert to electric powered vehicles.
Now electric is far from perfect, there are many limitations still, however if you use them for there suitable practice, electric vehicles are certainly the way to go.
When Jane Sim (City Coast Motorcycles) reached out and told me that the BMW CE 04 was on the horizon I got super excited. I had ridden a Zero Motorcycle in the past, but that was years ago. I wanted to see how electric vehicles have evolved and improved over the years.
With the CE 04, BMW has truly hit a sweet spot in the market place. With the luxury and quality we expect from BMW, and at a suitable price point, the BMW CE 04 is the ultimate urban machine.
As with most electric vehicles, the weight of the CE 04 is far heftier than what it's petrol powered equivalent would be at 231kg, but the weight and center of gravity sits very low and it feels far lighter than it's actual weight.
Max power output on BMW's CE 04 is 42ph(31kW) at 4,900 rpm and Max. torque: 62Nm at 1,500rpm.
Max. speed is 120km/h (electronically limited) with a total Range 130km, which is more than enough for the urban environment when charging is available during the day or over night. Clearly it's not the best option for touring.
