This lightweight, rear-wheel-drive coupe is built for winding roads, and what better way to experience its full potential than carving through the scenic alpine routes of New South Wales?
The Journey to Jindabyne
Leaving Sydney behind, I hit the highway early, excited for the adventure ahead. The drive south is a mix of fast highways and open country roads, but the real thrill begins once I pass Cooma. From there, the roads twist and turn through breathtaking landscapes, lined with vibrant autumn foliage. The BRZ feels at home here, hugging every bend with precision and control.
Staying at Horizons, Jindabyne
After an exhilarating drive, I arrive at Horizons in Jindabyne—my home for this trip. Nestled on the edge of Lake Jindabyne, this spot offers an unbeatable view over the water, especially at sunrise and sunset. The location is perfect: just a short walk to cafes, restaurants, and essential stores, making it easy to settle in and relax after a day of exploring.
Exploring the Region
Jindabyne in autumn is a different kind of magic compared to its winter ski season. The town is quieter, and the landscape is painted in hues of orange, red, and gold. I take the BRZ for a cruise up to Thredbo, enjoying the crisp mountain air and panoramic views. A stop at Zack’s Café is a must—home to Australia’s biggest cheeseburger. It’s the perfect fuel after a long day of driving and exploring.
A Perfect Autumn Escape
Whether it’s the thrill of the drive, the stunning views, or the peaceful atmosphere, this road trip is everything I hoped for and more. My BRZ proved to be the perfect companion, effortlessly tackling the mountain roads and making every twist and turn an absolute joy. As I sit by the lake at Horizons, watching the golden light reflect off the water, I already know—I’ll be back next autumn for another round.
